Once again on July 24th 2009 Harry is being featured on Friday Night is Music Night (playing this time rather than arranging - see below) - after half a dozen appearances last year, he is almost becoming the resident pianist on the show! Brand new routines will feature, you can book tickets to London's Mermaid theatre via the Radio 2 website absolutely free, so come along and hear him live!
"I'm a huge fan...you can't be a pianist and not be a fan!"...
...so said presenter Iain Burnside on his sunday morning BBC Radio 3 show startingly entitled 'Sunday Morning'. The theme was 'parody' and was described by the Radio 3 website thus: "From wicked satire to respectful homage, Iain presents an assortment of musical borrowing and imitation that embraces Mozart, Dudley Moore, Chabrier, Harry the Piano and Bartok". Listen to Iain and guest Richard Sisson (the widow from comedy duo 'Kit & the Widow') discussing 'the Harry word' here and playing a favourite track.
The Pen is mightier than the Piano
Harry is back on the world's longest running music show - Radio 2's 'Friday Night Is Music Night', but this time as an arranger. Together with saxophonist Simon Bates, Harry is musically directing the singer Richard Shelton for his Friday night debut. Harry and Simon have arranged the old Police hit "Everything little thing she does is magic" for the BBC Concert Orchestra to accompany Richard - the show is being recorded on Tuesday 2nd June at the Mermaid theatre London and broadcast sometime soon - listen out!
